Chegg College Counselors Explainer Video

This is an explainer video Chegg College Counselors, one of the largest student services companies in the US. This explainer video shows how students can increase their chances of getting into college with help from Chegg. The script and voiceover for this project were provided by Chegg and my role was to create the animated video. This is not my typical project, as I had no say in the script. However, it was a great experience bringing someone else's story to life, well, at least to animated life.

Well Dressed Seoul - Fit

"Carl has played an instrumental role in helping me shape and refine the way I promote the tailor shop I co-operate in Seoul, Well Dressed. Not only has he used his expertise in producing and filming promotional videos for Well Dressed, Carl's marketing consulting has been both insightful and honest, opening my eyes to opportunities and business channels I was previously unaware of. I feel very lucky to be working with Carl and know that Well Dressed and he are in it for the long run as we work to broaden the ways in which we collaborate."

This is a movie for Well Dressed, a custom men's and women's tailor shop in Seoul, South Korea. It is co-owned by Todd Sample, and is the first foreign owned/operated custom tailor shop in Korea. Todd Sample is well known throughout the country as an expert on Korea and on fashion. This movie is about the importance of fit.

International Six Sigma Institute Explainer Video

An explainer video for one of my regular clients, Jenny Evans. The first video for Jenny was for her Scrum certification service. This one is to introduce a Six Sigma certification program. Pretty cool stuff. Had no idea someone can get Six Sigma certified in only an hour. Also really cool how they offer free training to help you pass the Six Sigma certification test. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0L7lhDYUmk

How it was made

This is one of three videos for my client, Jenny. Each video has pretty much the exact same script. We only needed to change the content to match the service. And since the scripts were nearly identical, the animation was also identical.

So it was pretty simple to edit the first video into two others. We only needed new logo graphics.

I was also able to lower the cost for the two additional videos.

Great client

Really great to work with clients like this who provide simple solutions for people. And Jenny is very communicative and easy to work with. Makes my job super easy. If you're looking for Six Sigma certification, check them out: http://www.sixsigma-institute.org

Trailer for Well Dressed Video Series

This is a cool project I'm working on here in Seoul. It's for the country's first foreign owned and operated custom tailor shop. But not just any kind of shop run by just any person. This is Well Dressed, run by my friend Todd Sample and his business partner Gina. Todd is from the US and is quite unique in that he's been in Korea for 20 years, speaks Korean fluently and is well known for his knowledge of business in Korea and his fashion sense. In fact, before he opened the shop he was regularly featured in fashion magazines and online fashion blogs. He's also been featured in TV documentaries and is a featured guest on the 1013 Main Street radio program.

So it was really cool when he asked me to help him create a series of videos for Well Dressed. Todd wanted to help people learn more about custom clothing, how important it is to give others a good first impression, and to show people how to develop their own individual style.

Yes, there are other custom tailor shops in Korea. In fact, there are quite a few. What sets Well Dressed apart is Todd. The fact that expat customers can communicate in English and get exactly what they want is HUGE! And Todd knows his stuff, which makes it such an awesome experience for his customers.

Anyway, here is the trailer to the first video about fit.

Software Test Institute Explainer Video

Software Test Institute helps people become software testing certified through their online training and certification test. The company also provides Six Sigma and Scrum certification, which I also made videos about. The video had a guideline based on what was to be communicated, to who, and what action was desired. I then wrote a script, did the voiceover and animation. Simple process, but the important thing is knowing who the video is for and how to communicate the desired message.

Done in Record Time - Medical Home Exchange Explainer Video

This explainer video for Medical Home Exchange was designed to be something like an infographic presentation but in video form. This particular explainer video is for a start up company based in Ohio, USA and was shown at an event showcasing new medical services. Videos like these are great for explaining things that you may have to explain over and over again if done in person. The video makes it easy to direct clients, prospects and customers to a non-threatening introduction to your product or service.

The client provided great background information to write the script and allowed me to choose the look based on their current business logo, brochure, etc. This made the overall turnaround time very short... like 48 hours, from start to finish, including the voiceover! But this is highly unusual and was a result of great timing and preparation.

Thanks to Pamela Owen for making this such a great experience and for being so easy to work with.

How to Make Powtoons with Pow! Or at least ones that don't suck.

Powtoon is an awesome tool. Over 500,000 Powtoons and counting is proof in the pudding. But like any tool, it requires some skill and know-how to get the most out of it.

And one of the things you probably want to get out of Powtoon is something that grabs your audience's attention, communicates your message and gets people to want to take action. The funny thing is, people say that's what they want when they use PowerPoint but I'm pretty sure you've sat through some pretty awful PowerPoint presentations. Ones that, basically, totally sucked!

Of course, you wouldn't be guilty of ever doing that, right? Right?

Well, with Powtoon, the big, awesome difference is of course, the toon part, the part that let's you make website videos, product demo videos, explainer videos or educational videos.

So to help you take full advantage of what Powtoon can do, I'm going to be holding a free webinar called "How to Make Powtoons with Pow! Or at least ones that don't suck."

What's going to happen in this no holds barred webinar is I'm going to take a look at, dissect and reconstruct some of your Powtoons and turn them into something you would be proud of to put up on your website, promote your business or show off to your class.

So be sure to register for "How to Make Powtoons with Pow! Or at least ones that don't suck" and get your Powtoon ready.

Should you make a Powtoon yourself or hire a Powtoonist?

Here's the latest video made entirely with Powtoon to show what it can do and to help you decide if hiring me is a good idea or making the Powtoon yourself is better. Here's the link if you want to learn more about getting a Powtoon made: Should you make a Powtoon yourself or hire a Powtoonist?

And here's the video...
